PSG Overcomes Marseille on Penalties to Claim French Super Cup in the Middle East.

Trophy celebration scene

PSG has now secured the prestigious cup on 14 separate occasions.

The Parisian giants required a dramatic leveler followed by a perfect spot-kick decider to overcome their arch-rivals in Kuwait and capture a fourth straight Trophee des Champions victory.

The Champions League holders appeared to be sailing towards a comfortable win in the showdown featuring the French league winners and the French Cup holders after the French winger found the scoring in the opening stages.

Yet, the southern French side fired two times late to take a shock advantage. Initially, Mason Greenwood converted from the spot-kick, before Willian Pacho inadvertently turned the ball into his own net for an own-goal.

In a breathtaking twist of events, Goncalo Ramos snatched a crucial equaliser in the final moments to send the contest into a penalty shootout. The Parisian shot-stopper Chevalier then stood as the hero, saving crucial attempts from O'Riley and Hamed Traore.

In the shootout, Goncalo Ramos, the midfielder, Nuno Mendes, and Desire Doue all converted with composure for PSG to complete a convincing penalty victory.

Now 14-time winners PSG, who met last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Olympique de Marseille after achieving a domestic double, have now won this competition for the twelfth time in the last 13 seasons.
